Chapter 16 of our player progression series is about speeding up your DB10 runs using Verdehile, the Fire Vampire.
Now that we’re able to decently farm DB10 using safe teams, we will use Verdehile to speed up our runs. So far, he is still the best lead for DB10 runs using Face teams, even end-game summoners use Verdehile with Twins (Boomerang Warrior and Chakram Dancer) for ultra speed runs, don’t worry we’ll get there eventually. But for now, we’ll focus on using farmable monsters for the benefit of our F2P players and the not-so-lucky ones in summoning. 😛
Verdehile brings so much utility that enables your team to do more before the dragon moves. With him, your team will be able to cleanse continuous damage frequently, heal up, and attack multiple times. There are three important factors to consider before using Verdehile in DB10 speed runs.
Factor 1: Team Average SPD of 190 for consistent attacks and good sustain
Aside from a high level or max level Totem (Glory Building), monsters like Spectra, Verdehile, Veromos, Belladeon and Megan should have 190 speed. You don’t want to be sluggish because the purpose of Verdehile is to maximize the number of turns before the enemies get a turn. As a starter of speed DB10, Swift runes are more valuable than Violent runes. To be able to use Violent runes, you need to maintain the minimum stats of SPD, HP and DEF which is hard to accomplish for starters of Speed DB10.
Factor 2: Debuffer/Stripper Accuracy of 55%, having less is a disaster
55% Accuracy is the optimum value in DB10. Since you will be hitting the boss straight and not the towers, it is required that your SPD debuffers (Spectra) and Stippers (Belladeon, Megan) to have 55% accuracy so that you will be able to effectively slow down the tower movements and strip the boss from immunity as necessary. Any accuracy above 55% is a waste, instead allocate it on HP, DEF or ATK.
Factor 3: Keep a good amount of HP and DEF to survive a few unexpected hits
We can’t control RNG and sometimes enemy waves can sneak in some turns. Towers from enemy waves hit like a truck and the Dragon can pick off 1 or more monsters from your team that could lead to failed runs. The minimum requirement for DEF is 800 and HP is 19k. Water monsters can have lower stats than the required minimum and Wind monsters need to have significantly higher stats, although of course, we do not recommend using Wind monsters unless they are tanky like Chasun or Briand.
Farmable monsters that are excellent partners with Verdehile:
Monster Runes and Minimum Stats:
Below are the minimum stats required for your monsters to run a Face DB10 in auto. You may notice the minimum stats specifically SPD, HP and DEF are a little bit higher than last chapter’s requirements. This is mainly due to the change of Leader (unlike Sigmarus/Veromos with HP bonus). “Speed is King” as they say, it is essential to sustain and burst enemies with Verdehile as your utility. The 3 core monsters needed for this Face team are Verdehile, Belladeon and Spectra since they have the key factors of Crowd Control, Strip, frequent ATB and sustain.
Team Composition and Synchronization in Auto Mode
There are 2 synchronization types for Verdehile teams. Verdehile as speedy attacker and Verdehile as the last attacker. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but for starters of speed runs, we recommend Verdehile as a speedy attacker. With this type of synchronization, survivability is ensured especially on drawn-out fights because your team will have more turns in total.
