Site Review
Dungeons: Bering is a pretty decent choice for your NB10 team, especially if you do not have a lot of options to choose from. With two multi-hitting skills, he is a pretty ideal monster for this dungeon. His 3rd Skill’s silence can also help increase your team’s chances of surviving the mini-boss nuke. With the lack of an armor break due to the silence, the chances of him killing your team will reduce. However, as mentioned, while he is a good choice, there are better shield breakers out there who does more damage or hits, such as the nine-tailed foxes, Arang and Shihwa, as well as Bering’s fire brother, Zibrolta.
Raids: The Kobold Bomber family offers poor kits for Raids, and Bering is no different. Bering brings nothing to the table, with all of his debuffs having no effect on the boss. There is absolutely no reason for you to use him here.
ToA: With two separate AoEs, Bering serves as a pretty useful stunner for ToA. His silence also serves as a pseudo 2-turn “provoke”, preventing the ToA bosses from using their other skills. As such, he can come in clutch if your Mav or Basalt is unable to land their provokes. If you do not have monsters such as the Taoist family, Bering is a more than decent choice to fit into a ToA team, either as a support or damager.
PvP: You can choose to either run Bering as a support or source of AoE damage in a PvP setting. On the other hand, his 3rd Skill’s high multiplier deals pretty decent damage when run in a standard Galleon comp. In fact, he can actually be a good counter to Nemesis healer comps if used right, as his silence will prevent them from healing up the enemy team.
How to Counter:
You’re very unlikely to find Berings in a defense. Almost any Bering found will more than likely be runed Despair, so most Immunity monsters such as Chloe and Delphoi are strong counters to his AoE debuffs. With Bering’s average defensive stats, it’ll also be pretty easy to kill him. If you do not have an Immunity monster, it is recommended to kill him as soon as possible, as his silence can cause a lot of issues if it lands on your healers.
Other advice:
- Like most debuff reliant monsters, Accuracy is pretty important for Bering. Try to aim upwards of 40% in order to prevent some resistances.
- Rage would be a better option than Fatal due to his not so optimal base attack.
- Some speed is pretty crucial if you’re using him in PvP. If you’re using him to counter Nemesis teams, always make sure that he is faster than your other damager.
Editor’s Note
Bering is a pretty good choice for newer players, but he does fall off pretty quickly as you get better and better alternatives. I honestly don’t see a reason to build this guy if you already have a capable NB10 and ToA team. If you still have the skillups from the December 2016 HoH, you’re better off feeding them to the actual bombers in the family such as Malaka, Taurus and Dover.

Needs good runes to shine, and Malaka/Dover need skill ups before him
Seems like no one has updated their review of him since his second skill change.
Now his dot applying second skill reduces its own cooldown by 1 turn for every dot you land. I tested this and he needs to land 3 dots without skill ups, or 2 dots when fully skilled. In a toa team with 5 enemies it’s never hard for mine to land his dots and next turn, do it again. Basically forever casting dot skills in toa, which to me is god mode. You want more? How about his ult that has a 2 turn silence for a safety net if stuns don’t land. On despair this guy is your TOA-TOAH dream. Multi hit, dots galore, and a silence safety ult. I held onto him for over a year, and I’m glad I did. Whip em out, have some fun.
People are using this guy in toaH SPD – HP – ACC. Have mine 6 stared lots of debuffs and throws out lots of dots. Combine with MAV.
