Dungeons: Draco’s a decent immunity monster for newer players looking to break into DB10. While Veromos definitely does a better job here, the addition of Draco makes runs much safer, even at the cost of speed. His pretty high chance of constant immunity for the rest of your team (thanks to his 1st Skill) and AoE attacks (Defense break and stuns if built on Despair) are also pretty great add-ons to his hit. However, Draco’s definitely the first monster you’ll swap out when you’re looking to increase your clear times, so there’s no reason to build him just for dungeons if you already have a DB10 team.
Raids: Like all the Brownie Magicians, Draco is much more of an annoyance in raids. The lack of any useful debuffs or cleanses as well as him unnecessarily increasing the turn count for the boss makes him a very poor choice here. Delphoi is by far a better choice for this aspect of the game.
ToA: Draco functions decently in ToA if you’re in need of an immunity monster, especially if you’re lacking a monster like Delphoi. If built on Despair, he serves as a pretty good stunner too, with a good chance of proccing due to his innate violent. With his pretty unique skill set, Draco may very well fit into your team.
PvP: With a lower cooldown than Chloe and a higher chance to keep it up thanks to his 1st Skill, Draco’s an excellent immunity buffer especially if you’re lacking any other choices. Draco also adds a random buff between Increase ATK, Increase DEF, or Increase ATK SPD to all allies when Whistle is cast. While he does not offer a cleanse, his attack bar boost and AoE def break does make him a pretty good supportive monster for your attackers. Due to the innate violent on his 1st Skill, many players often run Draco on Despair, using RNG to get some stuns on the enemy.
Alternatively, you can run Draco as a standard speed booster. As there are few people who uses Draco and thus underestimating him, giving him your best set of swift runes can easily throw other players off.
How to Counter
That being said, Draco’s base speed is still lower than Bernard and Chloe. And unlike his brother Orion, Draco doesn’t have any strip whatsoever. If you do chance upon one in PvP, there is little need to prioritize killing him. However, immunity on your side will definitely help, as a lucky Despair stun can turn the tides over to the opponent’s favour.
- As his base defense is also pretty high, you can choose to swap one of Draco’s slot 4 or 6 runes to a DEF% rune if the sub-stats are superior
- Unlike the other Brownie Magicians, Draco doesn’t need that much accuracy to shine, as Despair-stuns doesn’t rely on the monster’s accuracy in the slightest. You’ll only need around 40% accuracy just for his armor break to land. You can stack the rest of the stats into his speed and HP / DEF after that
Draco was actually my first 5* monster in the game (got him as an awakened monster). While he was pretty much neglected at the start when I was building the rest of my team, I started using him once I realized I needed a good immunity monster. In my opinion, Despair is by far the most optimal choice for Draco, as his stuns can be extremely annoying if you’re lucky. At this point in the game, sometimes RNG will be much more important than rune-quality when you’re up against better-runed monsters. If you have them, you can pair Draco with some self-buffing monsters like Trevor, who benefits from pretty much all of his kit.
- AoE Immunity buff
- Decent 30% attack bar booster
- AoE defense break on crushing hit
- Good overall HP% leader skill
- Defense break is only 1 turn
- All around average base stats
- Base speed of 106 (which is lower than the common Bernard and Chloe)
