Dungeons: Unfortunately, since oblivion doesn’t really work on the bosses, bringing Tesarion here is pretty meaningless. Both Veromos and Theomars will do a far better job than him, be it support or damage respectively. There’s little reason to use Tesarion here apart from being a standard fire monster.
Raids: Thanks to his good base stats, strong resistance leader skill and good damage, Tesarion’s a surprisingly good choice for raids. While both his DoTs and Oblivion debuff won’t work here, he brings enough to the table to warrant a use. Most players using him here will run him as a damage build or hybrid instead of a full support, since he actually hits really hard thanks to his passive damage bonus.
ToA: While you won’t use him that much here, Tesarion is situationally useful in certain stages. Notably, he does wonders against the quadruple Fria + Garo stage in ToA, since the oblivion will prevent the full heal and cleanse from working. He also does wonders against any Rina or Fuco stages in ToAH, and most used against the ToA 100 Lyrith stage. The oblivion debuff works against the incarnations, making him and the extremely rare Isis (Light Desert Queen, not the group) the two monsters capable in shutting them down.
PvP: While he doesn’t get that much usage in Arena due to how time-consuming it is to oblivion monsters one-by-one, Tesarion is an excellent monster for Guild Wars. The oblivion effect makes passive reliant monsters like Laika, Theomars, Perna, Camilla and more from doing their intended job, while making it infinitely easier to kill them. Just make sure you have enough support for him to get a turn off, since all these monsters are capable of taking out Tesarion in one-shot when he is defense broken.
How to Counter
Tesarion’s generally a much more offense-used monster than defense. However, he does pop up in a lower-level defense from time to time. Unless you want to get into a Tesarion vs Tesarion war, the best situation is to bring a solid water nuker to take him out. Tesarion’s AI isn’t smart enough to target your own water nukers, making Theomars and Camilla safe choices in countering him. While most will build him as a pure tanky support, there’s also a good chance that he’ll hit surprisingly hard, so just be careful of that.
- Accuracy is crucial for Tesarion. Ideally, you’ll want 85% accuracy. However, 60% upwards should suffice
- Make sure to synergize the speed of Tesarion to the rest of your nukers. You want him to move before them
Both Theomars and Tesarion are seen as the ideal choices for the Ifrit Summoning, since both offer extremely unique passives not found anywhere else. For most newer players, Oblivion is the only way to counter certain monsters in the game. He’s a valuable asset, largely due to his unique he is. End-game wise, he’s been getting more traction in Guild War Offense and World Arena. Overall, he’s a monster that you’ll likely be using for the entirety of your game, so make sure you give some good runes to him.
