Site Review

Dungeons:
  • GB10 – Not recommended
  • DB10 – (Rating: 7/10) Can be a viable Damage Dealer because it has self sustain and high survivability. Not highly recommended if you aim for speed runs.
  • NB10 – Not recommended
Scenario:

(Rating 9.0/10) Chiruka Hell fodder farmer

Raids:
  • R5 – (Rating 10/10) One of the best Frontline units for R5. With his Leader skill +33% DEF to allies, the valuable increase will give more survivability to your team. His passive skill Gold Headband increases your Attack Power by 200% when maxed, making him a good Damage Dealer for R5. Mei Hou Wang is also immune against stun and freeze plus a DEF break and self heal on 2nd skill.
  • Element Rift Beasts – (Rating: 8.5/10) Viable for Wind and Light Beast Dungeons. With powerful single-hit skills and DEF break, he can tank and become a DD for more point contributions. Use him to get a high rating ranging from S-SSS.
ToA:

Not recommended

PvP:

(Rating: 9/10) Mei Hou Wang is more utilized on AO, GWO and RTA. Sometimes in Arena Def but not as much on Conqueror ranks. Whats great with this monster is he is a stand-alone type of unit that if the enemy is not a hard counter, MHW can kill them all 1 by 1. Since he is immune to inability effects, he has the assurance to hit in each of his turn plus the capability to regenerate with 2nd skill. He is also a good stunner on his 1st skill and a 100% activation rate for 2nd skill making revenge rune a game changer. MHW favors long battles and being hit to increase his passive count for more damage output.

How to Counter:

Mei Hou Wang relies so much on his passive skill so you should cast oblivion debuffs to negate it. Without his passive, you can CC him and lock him down. If MHW is more HP-attributed, kill him last because he has no initial threat. But if he is an attack type, you can nuke him down ASAP. MHW is a DEF type monster but isn’t immune to DEF break. Once you land a successful debuff you can try to nuke him down using consecutive attacks. If you plan to take him down, make sure he does not stack his passive.

Other advice:
  • MHW when awakened gives you additional 15 SPD allowing you to focus more on HP, CR, CD and ATK stats. You should still rune him with your best runes due to his high demand on every stats.
  • He has a high base DEF but is preferred to have HP% main stats for more survivability. His damage does not scale with DEF so just allocate it on substats as 3rd-4th priority to make him harder to kill.
Editor’s Note:

MHW is versatile in most game contents. First he can be used as fodder farmer for Chiruka Hell Map which gives the highest XP share in scenario. He has self sustain so he is quite reliable in most runs. Another good use for him is R5, he is a top class Frontline and Damage Dealer. With his high base DEF and Leader skill he can tank multiple attacks and as the boss hits, you gain 200% attack damage when passive is stacked to max. PVP wise, he is also a good offensive unit due to his stand-alone skill kit. With no hard counters facing him, MHW can kill them off 1by1. MHW is worth your Devilmon skill-ups to increase damage, harmful effect and reduced skill cooldown.

Positives

Great sustain
Amazing damage even if built supportive
Good base speed and supportive stats

Negatives

Low base attack

    Solo specialist.
    amazing raider and farmer.
Vary good arena and gw defense.
    outstanding dps for a tank.
Awesome vs cc and great against multi hitting enemies.

    Negatives

    slower.
Vary 6 star and outstanding runes required.
    Tricky to balance.
    Not noob friendly.
Not So great against single hitting nukes.
    Tes.......
    Requires a cleanser in raids.

Really needs great runes (vamp revenge) and 6 star and max skills to stand out. I had exact same runes i have on him now at 5. And he was kinda a wet noodle. Made him a 6. And wala soloing b8 giants np and easily duos upfront in raids.
—- THERE IS A HUGE MISUNDERSTANDING ON HIS RUNEING!—-
Most people say to put cd in slot 4. However they fail to realize his passive drastically increases the value of atk subs over cd. After doing the math with both 6 star runes in slot 4. Atk is roughly 12% stronger than cd. IF u truely want him to hit as hard as he possible can. 200%atk is FAR stronger than 200% cd. idealy u want cd as your last extra sub. SUBS u want to aim for are. ATK%, Def% Hp% Spd, THAN CD. His sustain is extremely important. TO much atk with no defense makes him super easy to kill before he gets 10 stacks. TO much defense just drags out battles to long. Spd is just nice to have to get more heals. Hp is same for def. Most info ive posted for 1 guy. HOPE someone learns from it.

Ive had wang for a while and am pretty sure you are missunderstanding his 3rd skill. To the best of my knowledge the bonus attack damage given only applies to his base attack so at% runes are of minimal value compared to cd and hp which will help him survive to 10 stacks.

Mei Hou Wang is a very underrated monster by this site. He was my first nat 5 when i was like level 15 and i use him all the time still. The rune suggestions on this site is complete garbage also. Here are my suggestions:

    Vampire/Revenge – hp%/crit dmg%/atk%
    – This makes him pretty much immortal. no need to be greedy with the atk as he will get it from his passive and revenge to stun/deal dmg.

    Violent/Revenge – hp%crit dmg%/atk%
    – will use his 2nd skill more often to self sustain still and deal more dmg as he gets more turns and revenge for the same reasons as above.

More useful than most people give him credit for. The longer he stays alive, the more damage he does. Go With Vampire/ (Focus/Revenge) and he is a BEAST. Excellent at farming, arena offense, arena defense, guild wars, etc. He stuns and applies defense debuff which is extremely helpful. Very versatile, so the stats really depend on preference.

    Tanky with DPS
Infinite builds and everything in between

    Negatives

    No AOE
Needs sustained fights to see full DPS

Mei Hou Wang is one of the most versatile monsters. Many rune combinations. You can build him as tanky as you want or as high DPS as you want.

Rune recommendations: Vampire/Revenge (and no, this is NOT just a farming build), Violent/Focus (or Energy), Vampire/Nemesis. You can go YOLO – atk%/critd%/atk% or substitute any of those if you want more tank with hp% or def% (def% is actually useful). My personal is Vampire/Revenge atk%/critd% (may change to atk%)/def% and love it! Make him as tanky or dps as you need for your groups.
