Site Review

Dungeons:
  • GB10 – Not recommended. While she’ll do just fine as a standard AoE nuker, her gimmick is her damage reflect / return due to her passive. Most players will choose to build her tanky because of this, making most AoE nukers far superior to her in GB10.
  • DB10 – Not recommended. Likewise, you won’t really be taking a lot of hits here apart from the boss. Even then, her damage output won’t be substantial enough to be useful.
  • NB10 – Not recommended. No multi-hits or strong nukes? Get out of here!
Scenario:

(Rating 8/10) She does surprisingly well as a fodder farmer, and this is largely due to her strong 2nd Skill damage and her great survivability. Players building as a damage dealer will still be able to survive in Faimon Hell due to the reduced damage thanks to her passive.

Raids:
  • R5 – Not recommended. The only debuff she lands is an unreliable 55% defense break when maxed. Her damage output is also better appreciated on AoE attacks, something that can’t really be found in a raid fight.
  • Element Rift Beasts – Not recommended. Apart from the Fire Beast, which is pretty much due to the fact that she has an AoE, Lydia won’t be able to perform in the Elemental Beasts. Even then, most AoE nukers will do a better job than her.
ToA:

(Rating 7/10) A decent monster if you’re in need of a dark tank. She can tank a few hits on the Akroma stage if you build her as a full tank. However, she has pretty limited uses out of it. Turn control is vital in ToA, and a passive that actually requires you to get hit just doesn’t fit well to that mentality.

PvP:

(Rating: 9/10) Lydia is a very strong monster and pick in Arena Defense & World Arena. She is a good counter to squishy cleave teams, where her return damage will easily snipe the enemy Lushens, Zaiross and more. With a 30% reduction to all damage, she can easily survive hits that would have killed her otherwise, and return all that damage back. Bear in mind that apart from the increased damage added to her passive, she will also return the damage back to the enemy when they move too. This helps to soften out the enemy nukers enough that she won’t have any issues killing them when she gets the turn off. Her usage in World Arena works pretty much the same way. You can bring her up as a last pick if you notice the opponent has strong nukers like Lushen, which forces them to either force ban Lydia or suffer a powerful counterattack later on.

Offense-wise, she doesn’t shine as much. However, you can still bring her in to fast damage teams like Seara / Orion comps. An attack buff is all you need to return a powerful blast of damage back to the sender.

How to Counter:

AoE damage dealers are the ones that are the most susceptible to her return damage. Your best bet is to bring a strong single-target nuker to kill Lydia before your AoE nuker uses their attack. While her damage reduction will make her tanky, she won’t be in the levels of an Eladriel or Ritesh. A strong nuke will normally be enough to kill her. If you don’t have that luxury, you can always just bring a fast enough team that will take her out before she gets the move off. Bruisers like Verad and bomber teams shouldn’t have any issues either, since their CC will immobilize her.

Other advice:
  • Hybrid builds are great so that she can survive hits while still doing good damage. Otherwise, she’ll be pretty useless, considering that’s her only role.
  • Speed is also very important. Obviously, you need her to move for her to be useful.
  • Nemesis is the preferred choice. If she’s fast enough, she can easily cut in between two AoE nukers to take one of them out
Editor’s Note:

Lydia hits hard, REALLY hard. She’s the prime example of a Berzerker. The more damage you deal to her and her allies, the harder she’ll hit back. A well-runed Lydia will be able to survive the AoE damage and wipe the entire team. I personally had one experience where she destroyed my double Lushen team, dealing over 20k damage through the defense buff. That said, she’s clearly more of an end-game monster for most players, seeing her lack of usability in anywhere but PvP. Build her once you have the runes to do so, and she can help secure a lot of successful defense wins if the enemy underestimates her.
