Site Review

Dungeons: Sige can do a good job in both GB10 and DB10 as your standard nuker. Issue is, however, is that his damage is pretty much overkill for most of the trash waves. Against the boss, he doesn’t do anything noteworthy beyond the double DoTs. For all intents and purposes, Sige is known for his powerful AoE, not his single-target capabilities. While he can be a great monster for your Dungeon clear team, you’re very unlikely to use him here in place of other nukers.

Raids: To keep things simple, the overall squishiness, lack of debuffs and single-target damage from Sige makes him a poor choice for raids. Since most nukers in raids require different runes than other parts of the game (Vampire sets, more tanky etc), you should not be wasting your Sige’s utility and build him just for this.

ToA: Sige excels best here as a speed-clear monster if you’re looking to rush up ToAN. His hard-hitting damage and element neutrality makes him a great monster here when paired with a Galleon. In the higher levels of ToAN, his DoTs can also come in pretty handily in finishing off whatever leftover monsters after your AoE nukers have used their skills. Besides for this specific purpose though, you should not be using Sige in ToA.

PvP: With over 900 base attack, 3rd Skill 440% attack multiplier and the bonus 25% increase in damage (which is counted to the total, not base), Sige hits like a truck if you have the right set-up. His lack of elemental weakness also means he’s guaranteed to crit against all elements, barring Passive glancing or crit rate reduction monsters like Molly, Akroma and Dias. If his decent 50% chance to activate his 4th Skill does activate right after, Sige can also easily-clean up anybody who survives his initial attack, even if they’re hiding behind a passive like Khmun or Rina.

However, past mid-game, it can be difficult to use Sige reliably, since the prevalence of Will runes neutralizes his threat immensely. Fortunately, due to the powerful nuke Sige has, if you’re confident in killing the enemy monsters, you’re unlikely to need a secondary or follow-up monster after him. With the extra space, you can easily run a stripper like Soha or Aquila to help strip the enemy without compromising your damage that much.

    How to Counter

As mentioned earlier, a good Will rune off-set or a fast Chloe can easily cut Sige off. The main reason why Sige’s 3rd Skill does so well is because of the bonus damage from any weakening effect, meaning a defense break is much more potent than other monsters. If you encounter a Sige on defense, you can also opt to bring monsters like Groggo as a decent counter, provided the rest of your team can survive the 3rd Skill. Fortunately for you, Sige has very squishy stats and average base speed. As even mid-game players are unlikely to use Sige in their defense, any that you do find can either be easily killed or won’t be speed-synced properly.

    Other advice:

    • Prioritize getting a good amount of crit rate before anything else. Once you hit at least 85%, stack speed, attack and crit damage as much as possible. Since you’re likely to use Sige only for your offense teams, supportive stats aren’t as important. You want to make sure Sige can get his turn and kill off the enemy.

    Editor’s Note

I had a lot of difficulties coming up with things to talk about for Sige and Tosi since their kit is so similar. For the Jun March 2017 HoH, the skillups you can get will definitely come down to either Sige or Tosi. The slightly greater base attack, relatively better awakening bonus and much more useful and practical 2nd Skill is definitely better than the light counterpart. On the other hand, Tosi’s resistance on awakening, however little, can help protect him against strippers in shield-will comps. Also, he won’t be targetted out by strippers like Belladeon and Molly. While their damage are pretty much similar, skilling up a Samurai is a heavy investment, so just opt for the one you prefer and store the other.

    Pros

    – One of the best AoE nukers in the game
    – Extremely strong multipliers on 3rd Skill
    – Great base attack
    – Double DoTs on 2nd Skill can be great in finishing off monsters

    Cons

    – Low base HP and defense
    – Not that great of an awakening bonus. Crit rate or speed would have been a lot better than accuracy.
