Site Review
Dungeons: Sleep isn’t that practical of a debuff in Cairos Dungeons, where you’re likely to be going through most of the trash waves pretty quickly and the final stage doesn’t have any monsters that can be slept. Aschubel is thus a wasted slot for most players here, since they can use a better support or nuker in place of him instead. However, it can’t be denied that Aschubel does make the trash waves extremely safe, which is excellent for newer players. If you’re lucky enough to pull him before you begin building your GB10 or DB10 team, by all means go for it. His speed leader is especially useful since you won’t have enough speed on your team yet. If not, you can give him a skip here.
Raids: Aschubel’s only effective skill is a complete attack bar reduction, which isn’t really that useful in raids, especially considering how little other things he can bring here. He isn’t an effective monster for raids at all.
ToA: Aschubel’s 3rd Skill can effectively shut down an entire wave of monsters for 2 whole turns, making him arguably the best crowd controller in the game besides Hathor. His turbulence is a direct upgrade over the ToA King Baretta’s version, so it’s another huge plus for him here. You should pair him with other ToA staple monsters like Spectra, which can reduce the attack bar and attack speed slow on other enemies without touching them, or Aria, whose 2nd Skill will exchange the sleep for a more reliable stun. Just make sure Aschubel moves after your DoT-ters to maximize his effectiveness here.
PvP: A powerful crowd-controller in PvP, Aschubel can easily bring his skillset to PvP too, albeit not to the same effectiveness as in ToA. A 2-turn sleep is generally plentiful in securing a win, since you can focus down other targets with ease. This is even more potent in places like World Arena, where his sleep capabilities is near the same level as the infamous Hathor. However, he doesn’t have any form of strip, making Will runes a great counter to him. He also won’t have that much damage, so he really needs strong allies to support him. Nevertheless, he’s a good monster to have in your party.
How to Counter
Will runes and immunity buffers are a great counter to Aschubel due to his lack of buff removal. Once you can get a turn off, prioritize killing off either Aschubel to make sure his sleep won’t come into play later on, or the enemy’s nukers so that a sleep still won’t be that detrimental. You’ll have to be careful though, an Aschubel who’s able to land sleep on your entire team can spell a slow and painful end for your team.
Other advice:
- Accuracy is vital for Aschubel. Don’t be afraid to use a Slot 6 ACC% rune to maximize it, you can get HP% substats in other places
- Speed is very important for Aschubel to have good crowd control. Make sure he’s the fastest monster after your stripper to best use his 3rd Skill
Editor’s Note
From what the community have been saying, monsters will not proc out of a 2-turn sleep, so that effectively shuts down Violent procs too if that’s true. This makes Aschubel a great counter in plenty of PvP situations, where Violent is king. He’s a great monster to have, especially if you’re having issues climbing ToA or other PvE places, but he’s nowhere near essential. A fun toy to play with, but he isn’t a big priority to build.

Additional Notes
- Nightfall will not be used by the AI to Bosses or Towers in the Dungeons that are immune to the effect (as of Patch 2.0.4)
