Site Review

  • GB10 – Not recommended. Fire nukers just doesn’t work in GB10, and Zaiross is no exception.
  • DB10 – (Rating: 8/10) Useful for certain teams if they’re in need of a good AoE nuker. As a bonus, his DoTs helps a lot in cleaning up the leftover monsters and towers.
  • NB10 – Not recommended. No consistent multi-hit attacks makes Zaiross a wasted slot in pretty much every NB10 team. If you’re looking for a monster that can DoT, Lanett is a far better option.

(Rating: 9/10) Fast and furious. Zaiross 2nd and 3rd Skill have no issue wiping out the trash waves. The additional debuffs on both makes it a lot safer too, since the enemy won’t be able to do much after his attacks.

  • R5 – Not recommended. With virtually no debuffs against him, Zaiross is pretty much a pure nuker here. Even then, his AoE attacks makes other monsters like Stella, Hwa and Xiao Lin do a much better job at that.
  • Element Rift Beasts – (Rating: 7/10) The only viable area for him here is the Fire Beast thanks to his double AoE attacks. You can use him if you’re lacking a more consistent AoE nuker out there, but his overall uses here are still rather limited.

(Rating: 9/10) A behemoth in ToA. Zaiross’ AoE cooldown reset is extremely destructive against pretty much all the stages. This shuts down the majority of the monsters here and just boosts up your success rate by a ton. Frias? Zaiross cooldown reset will eliminate those pesky heals. Camules? They can’t get those reflects up when everything’s on cooldown. To top it off, his 2nd Skill DoTs gives him uses too in ToAH. Overall, he’s a very good monster to have in both manual and auto ToA teams. You can be rest assured when you have Zaiross in your roster.


(Rating: 10/10) Few monsters have the same notoriety as Zaiross when it comes to wanted 5*s. Boasting one of the highest AoE attacks in the game and the only monster that offers an AoE complete cooldown reset makes this Dragon truly the stuff of legends. Paired with monsters like Tiana and Galleon, and he can easily put a stop to even the most well-crafted defenses in the game. Even his elemental advantaged Water enemies can’t properly counter him, since his cooldown reset works even on glancing hits. Most rune builds will work well here, but Despair and Violent are the most common sets found in end-game teams. Some players will even build him on a support build to fully capitalize on his unique debuffs. Regardless of how you build him, Zaiross isn’t a monster that you’ll be keeping in storage anytime soon.

How to Counter:

Looking through his stats, and it’s evident that one of Zaiross doesn’t exactly have the best defensive stats. A solid hit from any nuker will easily take him out, and his poor base speed makes it really easy to outspeed him. If he isn’t paired with a stripper, immunity buffers will also work against him. If you’re down on your luck and are out of immunity buffers too, your best bet is to just bring tanky bruisers or monsters that won’t mind having their skills reset. This means monsters with short cooldowns like the Dragon Knight family or Molly / Racuni works well here. Avoid bringing passive reliant monsters like Perna, Theomars or Psamathe against him, since their second lives are essentially useless if he gets a Fiery Breath off.

Other advice:
  • Unlike other nukers, accuracy is very important on Zaiross. Most players will aim for upwards of 60% accuracy on him to ensure he gets the cooldown reset off. Some will even go for a Focus off set to increase this chance.
  • Despite his poor defensive stats, a fast support Zaiross will still work his magic in offensive teams. Just bring him against monsters with long cooldowns and they’ll be helpless against him.
Editor’s Note:

This premium monster’s name is well known among the Summoner’s War community, and it’s very easy to see why. Zaiross offers such raw destructive damage that the cooldown reset occasionally doesn’t even matter. Don’t be surprised when this monster takes out your entire team. He’s one of the few monsters that is more than capable to hold his own as a single AoE nuker, and whatever support monsters you have won’t be able to fight against him when all their heals or revives are down for the count. Truly a monster worth investing some of your best runes on.
