Rune Recommendations

Early NB10 – Violent/Revenge (HP% or ATK% / Crit R% / Atk%)

Alternative NB10 Build – Triple Revenge (HP% or ATK% / Crit R% / Atk%)

Note: Go for Crit Damage on Slot 4 once you have better runes, but it’s not that necessary.

Site Review

Dungeons:
  • GB10 – Not recommended. Low supportive stats and elementally weak to everything. Adrian will just die out here.
  • DB10 – Not recommended. While his debuffs and buffs can be useful, they aren’t spectacularly unique here. There’s just no reason for him to take up a valuable spot that can be used for some other monster that’s far more useful.
  • NB10 – (Rating: 8/10) A super strong shield breaker in NB10, Adrian is one of the best monsters for a starting NB10 team. The heal block on his 1st Skill is amazing against the boss, while his 2nd Skill’s DoTs will help work down the mini-boss and final boss in the dungeon. Most importantly, his 3rd Skill grants your team an amazing 3-turn speed and critical rate buff. This helps reduce the rune requirement on a NB10 team tremendously. You’ll only need 70% crit rate for all your attacking monsters when partied with Adrian, and the speed buff will help speed up your runs through the trash waves. With a 3-hit (with max crit rate) and 4-hit damaging skills, Adrian is one of the best shield breakers you can find in the game.
Scenario:

(Rating 6.5/10) He’s alright as a fodder farmer in Tamor Desert Hell. However, this is something that pretty much any fire nuker can provide as well, and Adrian won’t be able to survive in Faimon. Don’t use him here unless you’re leveling him.

Raids:
  • R5 – Not recommended. DoTs are useless in raids and his heal block is something that’s already offered by the myriad of Colleens & Dias out there. His 3rd Skill’s buffs,
while on paper useful, will often be removed. You also shouldn’t be relying on the buffs that much if you’re able to clear R5, so there’s simply no reason to use him here.
  • Element Rift Beasts – Not recommended. His debuffs are useless here and his damage isn’t amazing.
ToA:

(Rating 6.5/10) Decent-ish early on if you’re lacking options, but DoTs are better applied by Baretta, and heal block isn’t as crucial barring certain boss stages.

PvP:

(Rating: 6.5/10) An underwhelming monster for PvP, unless you’re very early in the game of course. He’ll work fine as a standard attacker at the start, but his lack of utility for any portion here just makes it super difficult for him to be relevant past that.

How to Counter:

Pretty much any non-wind nuker will be able to take out Adrian. His poor supportive stats and likelihood of being built as an attacker for NB10 makes it super easy to one-shot him. The only threat he may potentially have is supplying his buffs to the rest of the team, but even then, it isn’t something most players will have an issue with.

Other advice:
  • It is critical for him to be one of the faster monsters in your NB10 team. Barring Colleen, there shouldn’t be any monster that moves before him there.
  • Critical Rate is essential so that his 1st Skill will land all 3 shots. Only if you have a good amount of crit should you consider swapping out his Slot 4 to Crit Damage.
  • Some players will opt for HP% on his slot 2 or 6 to make him tankier. Both HP% and ATK% works there, it’ll just depend on how much survivability and damage you want out of him.
Editor’s Note:

Adrian is definitely a one-trick pony. He works well in NB10 as a shield breaker, but that’s where it ends. Adrian is definitely in a very peculiar position. He is a monster known for being used in NB10, which is only focused on after you’re able to clear most PvE content, so there’s no reason to build him prior to that stage. However, at that point in time, there’s just no practical use for him in ToA or PvP. For all his upsides, one of the reasons why most players avoid building Adrian is his lack of utility in any other part of the game. Even then, he’s easily replaceable by either the Liches or Shihwa, both of which still has uses in the Elemental Beasts. While he is still good monster overall, players that want something more versatile should look elsewhere.
