Site Review

  • GB10 – Not recommended. Her elemental weakness, and the fact that her 3rd Skill doesn’t really affect the boss just makes her useless here.
  • DB10 – (Rating: 7/10) A decent reviver for early DB10 teams. She can be used in tower teams to ensure that your nukers survive any Dragon counterattacks, while her 3rd Skill can be a clutch stun against some monsters of the trash waves.
  • NB10 – Not recommended. The lack of multi-hits and absolute lack of practicality of her 3rd Skill against the boss means she’ll be a wasted slot for your NB10 team.

(Rating: 6.5/10) Platy will do a little better as a fodder farmer compared to other supports due to her powerful multiplier on her 3rd Skill. That being said, she is still a support, and shouldn’t be used as your go-to farmer due to her still slow clear times.

  • R5 – Not recommended. Platy has nothing except for a small revive here. There’s little reason to use her here because of that.
  • Element Rift Beasts – Not recommended. Revivers in general aren’t that great in Elemental Beasts, and Platy is the same. No amount of cooldown reset or strip that she offers will have any effect on the giant worm coming out of the ground.

(Rating: 7/10) Platy does a fine job as a max cooldown reset for certain stages, especially early on in your game. Her short cooldown on her 3rd Skill makes her great at controlling the moves of some boss stages, as well as taking out pesky passive-threats like Fria and Drogan.


(Rating: 8.5/10) Platy’s awakening bonus of getting a 100% chance to strip on her 1st Skill has opened many new doors for her in PvP content. She’s an amazing support monster with a great revive / heal on her 2nd, and a devastating max cooldown reset on her 3rd. Like all cooldown resets, this will still work on glancing, making her a great counter to Theomars and other passive-cooldown monsters. Optimally, she should be built on Violent to semi-counter immunity threats, since a lucky proc can help strip the enemy on her 1st Skill before smacking them in the head with a huge hunk of Burning Love Heart. Thanks to her great supportive stats and unique cooldown reset, especially for a Nat 4*, she’s a strong monster in any 4* Siege Tower. She shines in Guild Wars, being a huge threat against monsters like Perna and Theomars as a set-up for your nuker. With her short cooldowns, she can help hold the front, continuously shutting down an enemy nuker, reviver or healer until you win the game.

How to Counter:

While not as prevalent in Defense, she still does appear from time to time. Thanks to AI-restrictions, bringing in monsters like Theomars is perfectly fine against her. Use the time to take out her allies first, unless you manage to find an opening to kill this little mermaid. With her low cooldowns, it can be irritatingly difficult to out-proc her, so don’t fall into the trap of bringing a single Chasun or Eladriel to tank the enemy. Be mindful of the damage of her 1st and 3rd Skill though, they hit like a truck if you’re not careful.

Other advice:
  • As a set-up monster, speed is essential. Aim for around +70 speed if you’re Early Game, or +100 speed if you’re not (Violent, of course!)
  • While it seems appealing to build her on damage thanks to her strong multiplier, her kit in general doesn’t really support it that well.
  • Try to get a decent amount Accuracy too, so that she can reliably land her skills. About 60% should be sufficient, but go more if you can.
Editor’s Note:

Among the basic Elemental Mermaids, Platy is by far the best. She’s a deceptively strong monster, especially in Guild Wars Offense, and can arguably hold her own against larger threats like Perna and Theomars. If you believe that you’ll never summon her Light or Dark counterparts, Platy is definitely deserving of your extra Mermaid skillups. In fact, there will be situations where she’ll shine more so than them. Apart from Guild Wars though, she’s a niche monster at best, so don’t focus on her until you’re able to successfully clear most PvE areas.

A powerful Mermaid for any team, she’s a perfect counter against monsters with long cooldowns on their skills and can effectively shut them down for the duration of the fight.
