Site Review

Dungeons: Early-on, Lucien can be a great all-round starter nuker for early-game players. His speed leader is especially great since there aren’t a lot of good leader skills out there at the start. You can use Lucien in place of Sieq in water-heavy scenario stages, as well as a typical nuker for the early Cairos Dungeon stages. His stuns does come in handily against the trash waves, but it can be difficult to synergize his 3rd’s Skill increase damage unless you pair him up with another inability monster. His 2nd Skill’s additional turn has a decent 70% chance to work when max, and even then, has to go through the accuracy/resistance check, making it pretty unreliable.

Raids: Unlike the other Elven Rangers, Lucien doesn’t have any debuffs or buffs to speak off. His overall squishiness and inability to do anything beyond raw damage (which isn’t even that good) makes him a very weak choice here. You wouldn’t even be using him in R1 here, so don’t bother.

ToA: Like dungeons, you may use him for the early stages of ToA as a nuker / stunner in your team. If you don’t have a lot of alternatives, he’s a decent monster to work with since he still has a good leader skill. However, you’ll soon replace him with the much better Baretta, who will do more stuns than Lucien will ever do on Despair. Like in dungeons, you can use him as a placeholder until you get better options.

PvP: You’ll be using Lucien here as any typical light nuker. However, he has comparatively lower multipliers on his skills, and his base attack isn’t that outstanding either. His biggest gimmick is his ability to deal greater damage against stunned targets. This can work to a certain degree early on when paired with monsters like Elucia, but is nowhere near as reliable as you’d like it to be. Use him as your damage dealer with Sieq early on, but he should be the first to be swapped out the moment you get anything better.

How to Counter

The only issue for newer players would be his speed leader skill, which can often lead to the enemy team outspeeding you. You should either try getting a similar speed leader, or just get a good dark monster to tank an attack. Since Lucien doesn’t pose that much of a threat, you can just prioritize whatever stronger nuker there is on the enemy’s team.

Other advice:

  • Crit rate is crucial for him to reliable land his 3rd hit on the 1st Skill. Maximum crit rate should be a bigger priority than crit damage

Editor’s Note

Past early-game, there’s extremely little uses for Lucien. He is virtually outclassed by other nukers out there due to his poor base stats and lower than average multipliers. To make things worse for Lucien, he is vastly outshined by his MUCH better counterpart, Adrian the Fire Elven Ranger. This makes it difficult to even allocate skill-ups to him since you want to give it to Adrian for your starting NB10 team. You can build him at the start, but you can toss him into storage once you get better nukers or stunners.

Summary

A monster worth putting your runes on ONLY during extremely early game. Don’t feed skillups to him and save your Elven Ranger food for Adrian or Isillen instead.
