Site Review

Dungeons: Similar to Chilling, You can run Figaro as a consistent buff remover in your face DB10 team. With a 100% chance to remove the immunity buff on the boss, you can not only remove it pretty reliably, but land either a glancing or slow debuff too. However, Chilling pretty much outshines him here if you’re really in need of a buff remover, so only use Figaro here for this purpose if you don’t have one.

Raids:  While his debuffs do appear useful, the multi-hitting boss, Oblivion debuffs and lack of any buff to remove makes his passive pretty useless here. While he can be built here, there are plenty of better alternatives to choose from.

ToA: Figaro functions like most Crowd Control monsters in ToA, with a 3 turn AoE hit that lands some decent debuffs. However, Aria’s 3rd Skill outshines his in almost every way, with a more useful sleeping debuff on her 1st. If you do not have Aria, farmable monsters such as Shannon and easily obtainable ones like the Taoists and Spectra can do a better job than him here.

PvP: This is probably the only place you should really be using him here. If you have the rune quality to do so, Figaro actually serves as a pretty annoying tank in defense. Many players often underestimate his kit, which can lead to potential wipes if RNG is in Figaro’s favor. With Figaro on your Arena Defense, he can be an unknown factor that can strip the enemy’s Will runes and land some annoying debuffs on them. While he can be runed as an attacker, his poor multipliers and only decent base attack doesn’t really synergizes that well. Instead, you should build Figaro as a typical stripper like Chiwu or Aquila, with plenty of speed, accuracy and bulk to sustain him. With his potential damage cancellation, he can survive for a very long time if the person fighting against him has unfortunate luck.

How to Counter

Figaro is actually pretty hard to counter due to his element neutrality. With him being able to strip and stun regardless of your Will sets, he can cause issues to your team’s turn order and mess up the entire fight. As he is often built as a tank, you don’t really have to prioritize killing him first, especially since the damage cancellation can waste some of your turns. The best way to counter him is simply outspeed him and focus on eliminating whatever threat is on the enemy’s team.

Other advice:

  • Accuracy is especially important for Figaro if you’re using him as a buff remover. Try to get 85% accuracy in total for some form of reliability.
  • With a powerful base HP and mediocre base defense, your slot 4 and slot 6 main stats should focus much more on HP, with some defense stats just to make sure he isn’t TOO squishy.
  • Speed is also very important for Figaro, as you want him to be faster than the enemy’s monsters to eliminate their will runes and wreck havoc.

Editor’s Note

Figaro offers a pretty mix bag of tricks. His unknown factor makes him both a blessing and a curse, as if RNG is in his favor, he really can, and will, mess up the enemy with a well-placed stun. On the other hand, he may not perform as well and as reliably as you might hope if you use him as your primary stripper. As such, I recommend him to be placed more so on defense rather than your offensive team. RNG-reliant monsters like Figaro and Orion generally does a better job on defenses as it is harder for other players to create a proper counter for them.
