Dungeons: Dover isn’t that good of a dungeons monster despite his useful 3rd Skill. Most of the time, his bombs won’t detonate before your team moves on to the next stage, effectively making him a time waster for faster teams. His light-element means he isn’t strong in either GB10 or DB10, where his brothers Taurus and Malaka respectively does a better job. His overall squishiness, lack of consistent damage and more makes him ill-fit for most Cairos Dungeon teams.
Raids: Bombs will rarely detonate against the boss, and stuns are ineffective against him too. His only source of debuff stems from his attack bar reduction, but you’ll often find MUCH better monsters like Hwa and even Barque for this role. The only bomber that can be used in raids in Seara, so give Dover a pass here.
ToA: Dover’s a powerful monster in ToA, be it Normal or Hard. Not only does he offer the same standard bomb like all other bombers, which ignores defense and stuns the enemy, he also has additional chance of crowd control thanks to the AoE stun and attack bar reduction! He shines best in ToAH, where he can control the enemy’s movements much better than the Water and Wind counterparts. Among all the bombers in the game, Dover’s the best in ToA, no questions asked.
PvP: Again, Dover stands out among his brothers for his higher stun rates and crowd control. This arguably makes him one of the best bombers for Arena Offense and World Arena, where stuns and attack bar manipulation can easily turn the tides of any game. He has the 3rd highest base attack among bombers, right after the Dark Joker, Liebli, and his Water brother Malaka. Overall, he’s an amazing choice for PvP Offenses, provided you have a strong stripper like Tiana to take care of any pesky Will runes in the way.
How to Counter
Will runes and cleansers are Dover’s main weaknesses. Furthermore, as a Light monster, he’s much weaker against monsters like Veromos, whose additional crit rate against him can easily kill the squishy bomber. As long as you survive the initial bombs and stuns, any of your nukers should be able to one-shot him.
- You’ll need at least 85% accuracy in total for him to do well. Either get that from Focus runes, or just use him as a leader for his 50% accuracy bonus
- Speed is crucial for him too, prioritize that after you get a good amount of attack
Dover’s an amazing monster for a lot of PvP teams, where his reliable stuns comes second only to Giana, the Dark Oracle, when it comes to bombers. While he does lesser damage than Liebli or Malaka, his 3rd Skill is something very unique, making him usable even in top-tier World Arena! A great monster to build, you should definitely use him so long as you can find a way to counter Will rune threats.
