Site Review

Dungeons: Apart from his rare anti-revive mechanic, Avaris doesn’t have a lot going for him. The only place you can consider using him is in NB10, since both of his skills has multi-hits. While his health block isn’t anything special, his 2nd Skill’s branding can be hard to come by in other monsters. If you’re missing a Shihwa or a Stella, Avaris can be a good substitute for them when you’re looking to speed up your team. As a standard nuker, however, he gets outclassed by both Fuco and Rigel, so you shouldn’t be using him in place of them as well. All in all, you should consider him as a placeholder until you get a better monster to fill up his spot.

Raids: While the debuffs are good, his overall poor stats and irrelevancy of his 3rd Skill makes him an unusual choice here. There’s little reason to use him over other nukers like Theomars, especially since health block will often be supplied by the ever-present Colleen. His ability to provide a branding effect isn’t worth the spot he’ll take up of a better nuker.

ToA: It can be difficult to properly fit Avaris into any team. Speed teams won’t use him since he lacks any AoEs, while slower, crowd-control ones won’t be able to utilize him whatsoever. He does fill a niche against revive-heavy teams, but in most cases your monsters really shouldn’t be having any issues against them.

PvP: Most players will build Avaris only to counter the popular Pernas in defense. Thanks to his great 2nd Skill multiplier and branding, you don’t really need an attack buff to one-shot a Perna in defense. You can bring him against any defense that has Perna as its only nuker and nullify the effectiveness of the team. With his health block on his 1st Skill too, even sustained heal teams won’t be able to last long against your monsters. While he also does a decent job against Psamathe and Theomars, he doesn’t have the same amount of security as he has against the elementally weaker Fire Phoenix.

How to Counter

Of course, it doesn’t need any mentions that you shouldn’t be bringing a Perna against any Avaris comps. The only thing you have to watch out for is his 2nd Skill’s damage, since it’ll likely be able to one-shot any of your monsters if they’re defense broken. A good wind nuker or bruiser should be able to take out Avaris pretty easily, but a water nuker with defense break should do the job too.

Other advice:

  • Aim for around 60% accuracy if you want his branding and heal block to land reliably. If not, 40% should be enough
  • You don’t really need that much damage to kill a Perna, so you can try to get some HP and defense into Avaris instead of going a full-on nuker

Editor’s Note

As long as it’s evident that there’s no threat to Avaris directly (considering how squishy he is), you should be good bringing him against that team. However, due to the niche Avaris has, newer players shouldn’t be building him until you have the rest of your core monsters build. The Water Anubis is a monster that only players looking to expand their PvP teams should make.

Additional Notes

  • Soul Destroyer (Passive) This skill does not affect the Necropolis’ boss’ revival.
