Site Review

Dungeons:
  • GB10 – (Rating: 9/10) Aegir is perfect for beginner to mid level GB10 team. He is highly recommended as a +1 Damage Dealer to those who aim to improve their GB10 run time. Example line up is: Veromos (L), Shannon, Bernard, Belladeon, Aegir. His 1st skill deals 2 continuous damage effects and 2nd skill applying a Brand effect to increase output damage by 25%, both are ideal skills in killing the boss faster. 3rd skill is a buff steal which not only removes the attack buff from boss but also using it to your advantage. To further maximize Aegir’s advantage, he has self sustain by healing 10% HP each turn as long as the 3rd skill is on cooldown. On top of that, he can still fulfill his role even without skill-ups.
  • DB10 – (Rating: 9/10) Similar to GB10 team, Aegir is also recommended as a +1 Damage Dealer for your DB10 team. This is why we strongly recommend buiding him early game because Aegir boosts your progress even faster and he is usable in the 2 important dungeons for early-mid game progression. In DB10, Aegir can strip immunity buff from boss and he has the element advantage. Additionally, the continuous damage and Brand debuff helps a lot as long as boss is not affected by immunity. An example of good beginner DB10 lineup is Sigmarus (L), Veromos, Spectra, Belladeon, Aegir.
  • NB10 – (Not recommended) Single hit attacks makes Aegir ineffective against boss.
Scenario:

(Rating: 8/10) Faimon Hell stage 1 farmer. Aegir recovers HP each turn when 3rd skill in on cooldown. He has the damage and sustain but the lack of AOE attacks causes the slow clear time.

Raids:
  • R5 – (Not recommended) Continuous damage does not work against boss and would be a drag to force Aegir into the lineup just for Branding debuff. There are other units more viable in R5 such as Homunculus (Attack).
  • Element Rift Beasts – (Rating:8/10) Viable in Water and Fire Rift Dungeons as Brand debuffer and secondary damage dealer. These units are specifically used to get SS-SSS rating.
ToA:

(Not recommended) Aegir is used more often in Dungeons.

PvP:

(Rating: 7/10) Used in situational Offense where Aegir is an element advantage and is able to steal buffs from enemies especially Immunity and Attack buff. He is effective against units like Velajuel, Chloe and team buffer monsters. However he is not used to tank enemy attacks because of his low base DEF, he can still be in danger against neutral element nukers. Although you can minimize the risk of dying by building him as hybrid unit runed with SPD/ATK%/HP%.

How to Counter:

Aegir is not used much as a defensive unit but if you encounter him in Arena/ToA/HoH, crowd control is key to defeating him. Once stunned you prevent him from using 3rd skill and self regeneration. His skills are also more inclined towards PvE which makes him a lesser threat from burst damage.

Other advice:
  • Stat priority: SPD > ATK% = HP% > ACCU% > CR% > CD%. Aegir is more of a hybrid unit that needs a little bit of everything.
  • Aegir’s 3rd skill doesn’t just strip buffs like Bella but also steals them. It has 2 chances to do so, which means you can steal 2 buffs or get a 2nd chance which makes it really reliable. 2nd skill increases your ATB by 50% after the attack.
Editor’s Note:

Aegir is quite an underrated Barbaric King and definitely a great monster to have early-mid game where players are forming their GB10 and DB10 team. Although his base attack is very low, it is well compensated by high skill damage multipliers which means the total output damage should not be overlooked, it can still deal a decent amount of damage to certain support and DD monsters. This monster is of lesser use to end-game players due to units like Homunculus that offers more utility. Overall, Aegir is a great Dungeon unit to have in the early stage of progression. He is worth fully skilling but use family skill ups instead of Devilmons.
