Site Review

Dungeons: Emma is an extremely safe and reliable choice for both GB10 and DB10. However, she prospers in new, safe DB10 teams. With her buff remover, stronger heal and shield and elemental advantage, she pretty much acts as a better Belladeon for DB10. Her first skill’s glancing also helps to reduce the damage your team will receive, especially in places such as the mini-boss Zaiross stage as she will always target the fire monster first. Fortunately, her AI is smart enough at the final boss so that she will only use her 2nd Skill when there is immunity on the boss. Overall, Emma is an especially useful monster, helping newer players transition into the DB10 with relative ease. However, do be ready to invest devilmons on her, as she requires her skills, especially her 3rd, to be fully skilled before you can really see the results.

Raids: Emma can work as a temporary replacement for other healers when you’re starting out in raids. Her first skill’s glancing is more reliable than Chasun, while her AI will ensure she uses the buff whenever it is available. The shield created can save your team as it will reduce the damage whenever the boss jumps. Until you’re able to get a more well-rounded team, Emma can definitely be used as an alternative.

ToA: Unlike the other areas of the game, Emma is outshined by different monsters here. While she can be used, there are more obtainable monsters that are easier to skillup. Besides the aforementioned Belladeon, monsters such as Talc and Basalt fulfills similar roles, but offers a useful provoke instead. For players attempting to climb ToAN, your Shannon from your GB10 team more than fulfills the role here too.

PvP: Emma can be used in multiple ways in Arena. You can set her up as a Nemesis healer similar to Ariel or Praha if you’re at a more end-game stage, or simply as a powerful defensive healer that better protects your team. Emma offers a very interesting kit, giving you a 36% heal, 2 turn defense buff  and a potential shield. Besides that, she also serves as a good buff remover. You should build Emma fast to ensure that her defense buff is set up to protect your team from the enemy nukers. When used effectively, monsters such as Theomars and Perna will have difficulties killing your team, even with a couple of violent procs. Her resistance leader skill also adds to her overall tankiness, which is useful if the rest of your team doesn’t have any decent leader skills.

How to Counter:

Due to her short cooldowns and strong defensive capabilities, Emma can be a very annoying monster to deal with on defense. You should always bring a monster that can either ignore defenses or strip her buffs. A standard Katarina combo can easily kill a Emma-reliant team off, especially since you don’t have to worry about her removing your invincibility buff like Belladeon does. Alternatively, you can bring heal blockers such as Briand to limit her effectiveness, as both her heal and shield will not work.

Other advice:

  • If you choose to use Emma as your buff remover, accuracy is very important. A reliable Emma should have no less than 60% accuracy.
  • While defense is important, HP is especially crucial for Emma. You should aim to get as much HP as possible while retaining some decent defensive stats.
  • As her heal scales off her own HP, she is much more effective when paired with defensive monsters such as Velajuel, Copper and Bulldozer.

Editor’s Note

Emma is by far one of the most reliable healers. She is a go-to healer for guild wars, with her use even surpassing Chasun for many end-game players. Her defense buff is something really not to be underestimated, helping to protect teams. Emma’s uses and effectiveness grows exponentially if you are able to get monsters such as Velajuel and Delphoi who are able to offer a cleanse and immunity. With both immunity and Emma’s buffs, your entire team is protected from multiple violent procs from the enemy.

Pros

– Powerful heal and defense buff on 3rd Skill makes her extremely unique
– No wasted heal as any surplus is converted to a shield
– 100% to remove all buffs on 2nd Skill
– Good base defense

Cons

– Cutting Magic’s buff removal only occurs on the 2nd hit. It doesn’t apply both times
– Heal can be less effective if used on a monster with more health, such as Briand or the Beast Monks
– Base HP is actually pretty low for a monster whose heal scales off it
– Requires her 3rd Skill to be fully skilled to properly shine
