Dungeons: Galleon is an amazing monster for both GB10 and DB10 speed teams. With his Water element, it makes it safe to bring him due to elemental neutrality or advantage respectively. With multiple defense breaks and a two-turn attack buff, it greatly increases the effectiveness of your speed teams throughout the trash waves. Furthermore, his 2nd skill’s attack bar reduction helps to reduce the number of attacks from the mini-bosses and boss himself. Essentially, Galleon is able to fulfill a role that would normally requires two monsters, creating a space for another attacker to speed up your teams.
Raids: Unfortunately, this is one of the few areas of the game where Galleon does not shine. While all of his skills are effective against the raid boss, most teams would likely bring alternative defense breakers and attack buffers that have a better use in supporting the team.
ToA: Galleon is also a very effective ToAN monster. He shines the most in helping your team progress through the stages quickly and effectively, but only if you pair him up with the right AoE nuker..
PvP: There is arguably no monster that have changed the meta-game in arena as much as Galleon. With a unique kit of an AoE defense break and attack buff in a single skill, the introduction of Galleon made cleave teams much more reliable, reducing the reliance on ignore defense teams such as Lushens for players to progress. Besides that, he has also forced plenty of players to build Will runes on their arena monsters simply to counter this behemoth.
Galleon is an amazing set-up monster for both your Arena and Guild War offenses. A good team will consist of Galleon, an attack bar buffer as well as two AoE attackers. His 24% Speed Leader Skill makes him even more effective in Guild Wars, allowing you to bring an effective nuker to take advantage of the increased damage as well as ensuring that your attack bar booster will be able to outspeed the enemy. While Galleon can also be used in your defense teams, it is important to make sure that there is some form of stripper in your team in order to prevent it to be countered by Will runes.
Other advice:
- With no damage dealt on his 3rd Skill, Galleon is an effective counter to monster such as Camilla and Jultan, who requires you to crit against them for their passives to work.
- It is crucial for Galleon to have maxed skills, at least on his 3rd, and 85% accuracy to be reliable enough in most settings. He is one of the few monsters that can effectively make use of your scarcely used slot 6 ACC% runes. Do not substitute his accuracy for anything less. With an 85% accuracy, he essentially offers an 85% chance to land his 3rd Skill, regardless of how much resistance the enemy has.
- Don’t always go for the fastest speed for Galleon. Instead, you should adjust it accordingly to your team to ensure that your Galleon will simply move right before your attackers. This helps to prevent monsters such as Veromos to cut in between and remove the defense break on your enemy.
- Due to the 3rd Skill, Galleon can deal a surprisingly amount of damage even if he isn’t build as an attacker. One option to take advantage of this is to build some crit rate on him, even if you do not have sufficient attack.
