Site Review

Dungeons: Tyron can be a decent monster for your DB10 team. His double AoE skill are great for crowd-control, especially when built on Despair, while the guaranteed freeze on 3rd Skill means you can pick off the enemy crystals one at a time. His 1st Skill can also do a good amount of damage, depending on whether RNG is on your side. His leader skill and elemental advantage allows him to replace Baretta as you progress up DB10 too, so he’s got that going for him.

Raids: CC monsters just doesn’t work in raids. While his 1st Skill can deal a good amount of damage, his lack of reliable debuffs (his glancing has a long cooldown and low success rate) makes him unusable here.

ToA: Tyron used to be a powerhouse for ToA. With a 100% chance to freeze and double AoE Skills, there wasn’t a monster better than him. However, that’s pretty much in the past. Newer monsters and buffs to existing ones have pretty much made him obsolete here. His skills have too long of a cooldown to be effective as a proper CC monster, and farmable options like the Water Homunculus does his job and more. You can still run him here before you get better monsters out there, but he isn’t worth using in ToA at all if you’re able to clear it.

PvP: Tyron can be used in PvP either as a support or damage dealing monster. His freezes and Despair stuns also works amazing well against newer players since they don’t have Will runes or reliable cleansers yet. As a bonus, his leader skill can also come into play in both Guild Wars and Arena.

However, Tyron’s damage multipliers aren’t amazing, so his AoE skills won’t hit as hard as you’d like. His primary damage will thus come from his 1st Skill if you build him as a damage dealer, which can chain into a lot of attacks if you’re lucky. The procs also works in Revenge, so having a Revenge offset of him wouldn’t hurt.

How to Counter

Will runes can shut any Tyron found in defense. Players who put Tyron in their PvP defenses will be built tanky more so than damage on average, so he won’t hurt that much, even if he procs couple times on his 1st Skill. You can choose to either outspeed him on his 1st turn and kill of the enemy’s squishy targets, or tank it out with Will runes or those who are immune to inability effects like Rigel.

Other advice:

  • Accuracy is necessary for Tyron for his 3rd Skill to land. Go for as much as you can. Newer players should go ACC% on his Slot 6 and Focus runes to maximize it
  • Since he gets a crit buff on his 1st Skill, you really only need 70% crit rate in total for him to be effective

Editor’s Note

Tyron’s one of the monsters I really regretted 6 starring. Can you believe it? He used to be considered a wanted monster as much as Lushen, Verdehile and Chasun. Sadly, the passage of time hasn’t been good to him, and newer monsters and those that have been getting buffs are outclassing him one after the other. Like Arnold, Tyron’s a relic of the past. You can build him if you get him extremely early in the game, but he’s put on the bench the moment you reach Fighter 3 in arena.

While a good monster, his lack of buffs in recent times have made newer monsters greatly outshine him. He isn’t as good as he was in the past.
