Site Review

Dungeons: Some players have seen success with Tanya in GB10. While she doesn’t have any AoEs, her 3rd skill is pretty much guaranteed to take out two threats on each trash wave. Her self-reliant attack and critical rate buff makes her very easy to rune, while the defense break on her 1st acts as a backup against the bosses. However, you’ll be quick to replace her as soon as you get better AoE wind nukers like Lushen, Akhamamir and Pungbaek. If you can already clear GB10 in a somewhat decent fashion, there’s no need for Tanya here.

Raids: Among the Assassin family, the only one that has uses in raids is Stella thanks to her great attack bar reduction and branding. On the other hand, Tanya’s debuffs are easily found in other monsters like Colleen and Xiong Fei, making them useless. On top of that, her usability here is reduced a lot since she loses her niche of knocking out two targets in one turn here is gone.

ToA: Her functionality here is pretty much the same as in GB10. You’ll enjoy using her early on when you’re lacking AoE options in ToAN, but you’ll replace her once you get better monsters.

PvP: Tanya can be a really fun toy to play with in PvP Offense. Thanks to her 2nd Skill, she’s one of the few monsters that doesn’t rely on Galleon to do her job. While her base attack is pretty bad for an attacker, the multipliers are decent, allowing you to get upwards of 45k damage on good runes. Even if she doesn’t kill the target, the heal block left behind will stop all healers barring Chasun from recovering it. In Guild Wars, this is especially useful since knocking out two targets is pretty much a win for you. Her best teammates here will be AoE defense breakers like Gemini, Orion and Luer.

How to Counter

While her attack buff does allow her to hit hard, it’s very unlikely for her to kill you if there isn’t defense break up. If you know she’s faster, just bring some immunity or a Water bait to tank a hit for her. From there, pretty much any strong nuke will kill her.

Other advice:

  • You only need 70% critical rate for her since her buff gives 30%
  • Since it’ll be easy to rune her, focus on getting some speed to make sure she can get a turn off before the enemy monsters

Editor’s Note

Tanya’s is arguably one of the better assassins, even if she gets overshadowed by her dark sister, Isabelle. However, she gets heavily countered by will runes, which gets much more prevalent past mid-game arena. If you still want to use her then, you’re forced to rely on AoE strippers like Chiwu and Gemini in order for her to still be usable. By then, her damage will also prove lackluster compared to other monsters due to her poor base attack. Overall, she’s an excellent nuker if you have her early on, but you can definitely give her a pass later on.

Summary

A good monster early on. Don’t bother building her if you have better wind nukers though.
