Site Review

Dungeons:
  • GB10 – (Rating: 10/10). Lagmaron is one of the best AoE speednukers in the game for GB10. With a powerful Lightning Strike at his disposal, he can easily decimate the trash waves with ease. Squall also boasts one of the highest multipliers in the game, allowing him to make quick work of the bosses. As a plus, his surprisingly high HP & Wind elemental advantage allows him to survive a good hit or two from the boss.
  • DB10 – Not recommended. Wind monsters generally don’t work in the fire heavy DB10 dungeon, and Lagmaron is no exception. Don’t bring him here unless you want a monster that will unreliably glance his hits.
  • NB10 – Not recommended. While he does hit hard, that doesn’t really matter here since his lack of multi-hits will make it difficult to break the shield. You want to build Lagmaron fast, which is atypical for any NB10 team.
Scenario:

(Rating 9/10) An excellent fodder farmer, Lagmaron’s AoE damage and blistering speed will allow him to run circles around the opponents in Aiden Forest (Hydeni Ruins if you’re new), while his decent bulk can fend off any damage he happens to receive.

Raids:
  • R5 – Not recommended. The only debuff he offers is a 3rd Skill attack break on a relatively long cooldown. His damage is also shadowed by other nukers like Xiao Lin & the Lich family.
  • Element Rift Beasts – (Rating: 8.5/10) A pretty good damage dealer for some of the Elemental Beasts. Squall does an insane amount of damage during the Boss’ Groggy stage, which is sure to significantly boost your damage contribution & score.
ToA:

(Rating 8.5/10) AoE attack break and stun is god-sent in ToA, and Lagmaron works well in most speed teams. Against the bosses, his Squall will be able to quickly smack their health down.

PvP:

(Rating: 9/10) With great CC potential and an insane nuke, Lagmaron strikes down his enemies with great precision and terror. Players can pair him up with the standard Galleon + Bernard team in Guild Wars and guarantee any OHKO against a non-fire monster in the game. You can capitalize on his stuns and attack break against non-immunity comps, which is especially efficient against monsters like Theomars.

Defense-wise, some players also use him in defense as a CC-damage monster. His good base HP allows him to survive a hit if the enemy happens to outspeed him, while the stuns and attack break on his 3rd Skill can put a stop to a good number of cleave teams in the game.

How to Counter:

Lagmarons are built fast due to his excellent base speed and speed scaling Squall and Lightning Strike. If you’re sure you can’t outspeed the team, bringing immunity or Will runes will be great in limiting the impact of his 3rd Skill. On the other hand, if you know that your monsters will get the first turn off, most nukes shouldn’t have any issues taking him out.

Just be careful of any attack buffs or speed boosts on the team. Lagmaron can still take out your nukers without a defense break if you’re not careful. Also, if you happen to have a Leo, his presence alone will mitigate a good amount of damage against your team.

Other advice:
  • Swift is often favoured over damage sets like Fatal and Rage to take advantage of Lagmaron’s good base speed. However, they can still work on him.
  • Accuracy is nice to have. Aim for around 40% or more if you can.
Editor’s Note:

While many players agree that his water brother, Taor, greatly outshines him in the damage department, Lagmaron is no slouch himself. His superior base speed makes it easier to speed-tune him to your cleave teams, while his stuns and attack breaks can have a huge impact against any non-fire damage dealers. Lagmaron is definitely a monster worth building, and he’ll be a force to be reckon with in your team for a long while.

Summary

A powerful wind nuker to have, he’s good in a lot of situations and is very easy to build for damage thanks to his speed scaling attacks.
