Site Review

Dungeons: Briand is pretty much the best reviver in the game when it comes to PvE content. His revive, which evens out the HP ratio of your allies, practically makes him more effective the more allies there are available. In Cairos Dungeons, the revive simultaneously brings up an ally while potentially saving a lower-health monster from the next attack. Furthermore, his AoE attack break, which can also stun if built on Despair, reduces the overall damage taken on your monsters while dishing out respectable damage. If you’re a new player looking to break into GB10 or DB10 or is just in need of a safer team, bringing Briand is never a bad idea.

  • For end-game players, Briand may not be as effective as he was in Dungeons in the past due to the “nerf” HoH had. However, he can still be built for auto runs, as his revive and attack breaks ensures your team can survive, regardless of how long it’ll take.

Raids: With a very relevant leader skill and two useful debuffs, Briand can be an excellent fit into most raids team as a frontline tank. As a bonus, his revive can be very effective if you have good healers to top up the health. Depending on your team, both Briand and his brother, Dias, are great monsters for raids. Briand is a better choice if you have a squishier monster in your team that can’t be protected by Dias’ innate damage reduction. If not, you can pretty much just go for Dias.

ToA: Briand is yet another excellent monster if you’re in need of a crucial reviver. His overall utility makes him an effective choice for auto teams, regardless of whether you’re clearing ToAN or ToAH. He can also be a great monster in the notorious Artamiel boss stage, as his debuffs and revive can be an amazing counter.

PvP: In regards to PvP, Briand is one of the more accessible revivers in the game, with the only monsters outshining him, Eladriel and Iona, being pretty difficult monsters to obtain. Briands are much more common in lower to mid-game arenas, where his revive can be effectively paired with strong healers like Ariel, Praha, Chasun and to an extent, Belladeon. If you have the runes, you can also opt to run Briand on an extremely fast Swift built to take advantage of his great base speed and catch enemies off-guard with an AoE attack break.

How to Counter

Briand can be a pretty difficult monster to counter, especially for newer players who have difficulties bringing down the health of this behemoth-tank when paired with a monster like Chasun. The best way to defeat Briand comps is to either make him spam his revives on squishier targets, or bring one-shot monsters like Copper to immediately take the threat out.

Other advice:

  • Speed is actually pretty important on Briand. For more successful and reliable auto runs, a good amount of speed is necessary in the event Briand needs to cycle his turns
  • If you’re running Briand in raids, aim for at least 70% resistance so that he can have maxed resistance after his leader skill

Editor’s Note

Briand was one of my crucial monsters when I was starting out in DB10. He is an amazing monster for most tower teams, as his revive can easily bring back a fallen ally, while his bulk is generally enough to tank a hit from the Dragon if he ends up destroying the tower. While some end-game players may not see as much use in Briand as much in the past, he is still a very effective monster that newer players should definitely build if they’re lucky enough to get him early on.
