Site review

Dungeons: Arang does an amazing job as a wind nuker in GB10, even if she doesn’t offer any AoE damage. Her leader skill is actually more effective than Lushen’s if you’re running a full wind team. Furthermore, she will do more damage than practically any monster barring Lagmaron and Taor against the boss with a well-timed 3rd Skill. While it is true that her base defenses can cause issues regarding her survivability, her 2nd Skill’s shield will likely more than make up for it if it is used before she receives any damage.

Raids: Arang can be a pretty great choice if runed well in raids. With glancing, attack slow, attack break and defense break, Arang offers a plethora of debuffs at low cooldowns against the raids boss. And now with added damage when the target is under harmful effects, Arang is a huge threat on raid bosses. However, she isn’t seen as much as she should due to her poor base defenses, which makes her, like Ardella, difficult to rune if you’re starting out. While her shield can protect her for awhile, her overall bulk makes it difficult to survive more than a couple of hits at the later part of raids. Regardless, she is an excellent raids nuker if you’re lacking a monster like Xiao Lin or Hwa.

ToA: While her debuffs can be used, the single-target attacks makes her difficult to be used over staple monsters like Shannon and Bernard. On the other hand, if you’re looking for nukers for ToA for speed clears, AoE monsters like Lushen and Akhamamir will do a better job over Arang.

PvP: Arang’s an excellent monster for newer players in PvP, especially since you’re at the point in the game where there are little to no Will runes on the enemy. Even with subpar rune quality, she can take out tanky monsters like Veromos with little issues. However, as you progress in the game, her survivability and thus reliability issues may be put into question.

How to Counter

With poor base defenses, a single-hit from most nukers with either an attack buff or defense break will more than likely finish the job. However, she is, with good reasons, normally paired with Chloe because of that. If this is the case, your best bet is to either bring a buff remover like Belladeon and quickly eliminate her or get a monster bait like Groggo or a good water tank. Without an attack buff or defense break, Arang won’t hit nearly as hard as she normally does.

Other advice:

  • With a powerful base attack and skill multipliers, Arang still does a good amount of damage if built with HP on slot 6 or Crit Rate on slot 4.
  • Due to her better base HP, she is better built with HP% over DEF% in your rune substats.

Editor’s Note

With a unique leader skill for raids (for the infamous 12 seconds R5 run) and multiple debuffs, Arang is definitely a good monster to invest into if you have the rune quality to build her. For newer players, Arang serves as a good nuker for PvP and GB10 and a good fodder farmer.
