The first thing you do after accomplishing a major goal is celebrate. The second thing you do is ask, “What’s next?” Here’s the quick and dirty guide to progression in Summoners War.
Scenarios
Your first PvE goal is to complete the Scenarios on Normal mode. Not only will clearing the scenarios open up new content, you will also receive rewards from each zone you clear, the most helpful rewards being a 4* Rune Set of choice (Energy, Fatal, or Blade) after clearing Aiden Forest, and a 5* Rune Set of choice (Energy, Fatal, or Blade) after clearing Chiruka Remains. You can use your friends rep mons to clear the stages you’re struggling with (very helpful for the boss stages).
In my opinion, the most helpful sets to grab from rewards are Energy and Blade (I would suggest 4* Energy set from Aiden, and 5* Blade set from Chiruka). Energy sets will help you get the tanky stats you need for your first Giant’s Keep, Basement 10 (GB10) team, and Blade sets will help you get your first farmer up to par for farming a Hard mode scenario. My suggestion is to 5* your Water Magic Knight and farm Faimon 1 Hard as you work on fusing Veromos.
Why not Fatal? Choosing the Fatal rune reward will net you 1.5 sets of Fatal runes, where as choosing the Energy or Blade sets will grant you 3 sets of runes. For example, 3 x Blade will get your Water Magic Knight to 85%+ CR (i.e. 100% after you include +15% CR for elemental bonus), making your runes faster and more consistent.
Giant’s Keep, Basement 10 (GB10)
The first of the Cairos Dungeons, leveling and skilling up a team to farm GB10 on auto is considered the first major goal in Summoners war. Farming GB10 will net you the all-important runes you need to further progress in the PvE and Player versus Player (PvP) content in the game (Energy, Fatal, Blade, Swift, and Despair runes). The standard starter team for GB10 is Veromos (L), Belladeon, Bernard, Shannon, +1 (Darion or Konamiya). Check out our “Path to GB10” guide here for more details!
Tower of Ascension Normal (TOAN)
The Tower of Ascension (TOA) resets every month and grants some fantastic rewards including a Devilmon (F70), a Light & Dark Scroll (F90), and a Legendary Scroll (F100). Devilmon are the rarest resource in Summoners War, so you should take every opportunity you can to grab them up, including the monthly TOA rotation. The only mon you really need in addition to your GB10 team to clear TOAN is the King of TOA, Baretta, but it’s going to take some solid strategy and luck. Thankfully, we have the best contributors here to help you to clear TOA; check out the December rotation TOA guides here!
Dragon’s Lair, Basement 10 (DB10)
DB10 is the second of three rune specific dungeons that you will aim to farm. Where GB10 drops the unique Despair set, you can find the all important Violent runes in DB10. You will also find Endure, Focus, Guard, Revenge, and Shield runes. Check out our “Path to DB10” guide here for more details!
Tower of Ascension Hard (TOAH)
The drops in TOAH are the exact same as in TOAN, the monsters are just a lot tougher to beat. Each month, you have a limited number of chances to get Devilmon, so being able to clear TOAH 70 should be high on your priorities list. Check out the previously referenced TOA guides for details on how to master those tough to beat levels (we’re looking at you, Artamiel).
Rift of Worlds, Level 4-5 (Raids / R4-5)
You can farm GB10 and DB10, but you’re struggling to find better runes. If only you could upgrade the runes you have… Well, you’re in luck! The Rift of Worlds (Raids) boss drops two key items: Enchanted Gems and Grindstones. Enchanted Gems allow you to replace one of your sub-stats with the gem granted stat, and Grindstones allow you to further refine (or power up) the sub-stats you already have. It’s at Raid 4 (R4) that farming Raids becomes efficient, hence why R4 is the next PvE goal.
What monsters are good for Raids? What stats do I need to contribute to run success? Check out our Raid guide here for more details!
Necropolis, Basement 10 (NB10)
The last of the three rune dungeons, Necropolis drops Rage, Will, Nemesis, Vampire, and Destroy runes. Will and Nemesis runes are especially helpful in PvP areas (Arena, Guild Wars, and Real Time Arena), so you’ll want to farm NB10 to improve your PvP game. Like GB10 and DB10 before it, there is a unique strategy to beating NB10. Check out our “Path to NB10” guide here for more details!
Player vs Player (PvP) Content
While working on progressing through the PvE content, you should also take time to familiarize yourself with the PvP areas in the game. There are some great rewards offered by the Arena and Guild War (GW) that you should take advantage of, namely:
- ARENA: A Devilmon each week, energy buildings, and stat buildings which improve your mons’ stats in ALL game content. After grabbing the weekly Devilmon, level up your energy buildings first for maximum efficiency, then start working on your SPD tower. Check out our Arena guide here!
- GW: A 4* max level Rainbowmon each week, Ifrit pieces (for summoning a random Fire, Water, or Wind Ifrit), and stat buildings which improve your mons’ stats only in GW. The 4* max level Rainbowmon you get each week from GW will be a massive help to you when you are working on 6*ing all of your mons! Check out our GW guide here (coming soon)!
And there you have it: the quick and dirty guide to progression in Summoners War! For more details about each area of the game, check out our expert guides. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, and may RNGesus favor you!
