Dungeons: There’s little use for Ramagos in Dungeons apart from the Hall of Light. His HP-scaling damage on 3rd Skill shines best when he’s targeted, which is pretty unreliable to set up during auto since most attacks are AoE. His 3rd Skill is also very unlikely to deal good damage since his health will probably be constantly topped up by your other healers, making him only deal decent damage when he’s the only monster left. While he can do a good amount of damage, his unreliability and impracticality makes him very difficult to use him well here.
Raids: As Ramagos offers little utility in Raids. His attack bar reduction on 1st Skill is nearly negligible, and his other skills doesn’t bring much to the table here. I can’t see a single reason you’ll use him here unless you want a deadbeat monster that does around 25k damage once or so in an entire raids run.
ToA: Like Dungeons, it is very difficult to use Ramagos unless you can make him the focus of the enemy. Even then, his effectiveness quickly falls the further up you climb ToA, where the increase in monster health means your Ramagos probably won’t deal enough damage to do a kill too.
PvP: Ramagos is well-known in PvP as a decent PvP monster due to his HP-scaling damage. For newer players, Ramagos will likely deal the most amount of damage among your entire roster! However, like Arnold, it eventually will get to a point in time where your nukers will output stronger damage, and enemy monsters will pretty much be able to neutralize Ramagos. Early game players should simply focus on getting as much HP on him as possible to maximize the damage. The best way to use Ramagos is as a wind tank / bait and hope the enemy does JUST enough damage to ensure your Warbear can return all the damage back.
How to Counter:
The only players that will really have any issues countering Ramagos are newer players. Ramagos is a huge threat since he scales off extremely well with low-rune quality. Newer players that are unable to kill him should just focus on taking out Ramagos’ teammates first before killing him. The safest way to kill Ramagos is to bring a monster that can survive a hit from his 3rd Skill. This means monsters like Theomars, who can survive one hit due to his Endure passive, or Groggo with the huge damage reduction. Alternatively, you can bring a heal blocker just in case the enemy Ramagos is on Vampire, to make sure he doesn’t do that much before dying.
- Early game players should just focus on stacking as much HP% as you can on him, the more HP he has the better
- Resistance and speed are also important. You need to make sure the enemy won’t run circles around and kill him before he does anything, while resilient enough to resist some armor breaks from monsters like Theomars
Ramagos is by all means an early-game toy. There’s very little reason to use him past mid-game, where his reliability and damage output just falls short over other monsters. While he can be a good Camilla-counter, it is very difficult to utilize him effectively as soon as enemy monsters can dish out more damage than Ramagos can take. The sad, ironic truth is that Ramagos shines best with optimal runes, but at that point in the game he’s pretty much irrelevant compared to the rest of your team.
- Clean Shot is used by the AI when Ramagos’ HP is below 50% (as of Patch 1.2.2)
- Clean Shot will deal 10 damage when you have full HP
- Good base HP and def for a 2* Monster
- 3rd Skill does a great amount of damage if runed well
- Self-heal and defense buff makes him even tankier
- Very easy to skill up!
- Effectiveness doesn’t scale as well past mid-game
- Average base speed
